Not quite a Blog but some news is better than no news!

TRIPTYCH, QUADTYCH, QUINTYCH, SEXTYCH OR SEPTYCH OR IS IT JUST A MONTAGE!!
12th June 2013 - 0 comments
I started to toy around with this idea with just a plain back-ground a year or so ago.

I wasn't too keen on the White back-ground but it was a while before I came up with these designs and I'm not claiming them as an original idea!! Heaven forbid :)
The first 15 are here with more to follow.

These are of course, too small to see properly here, so you can find larger versions of them in their very own Gallery called MONTAGES where I will give a detailed description and you can find the sizes and prices.

As per usual, enjoy,

John.
SOME MORE CLOSE UP IMAGES.
23rd April 2013 - 0 comments
The Feather images were taken the other day and are hot off the press. The Rock shots are a couple of years old but I always meant to get them done!!

If you want a statement piece for the wall, you wont get bolder than these.

We get the Weekend paper's delivered and in the Sunday Mail there are several 'Magazine inserts' to suit most tastes.
One of them is called
'Home' full of new Homes with ideas to decorate them.
I'm not sure if it's me but they all seem to be the same
- Chocolate/Gray Doors, Cupboards, walls/dividers etc etc. And what colour hanging's do you think they have, you guessed it - Chocolate/Gray etc. etc. Guess what, BORING!
Those walls SCREAM out for a Big Splash of Boldness!. What a coincidence, I've got some here!

Larger versions can be found in the 'ABSTRACT DETAIL/CLOSE UP' Gallery, also for Print sizes and Prices.

enjoy,

John

2012 ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW RESULTS. (UPDATE 21/12/12).
02nd September 2012 - 0 comments
21st. Dec. 2012. It looks as if I WILL NOT be entering the Exhibition in 2013.
I had a bit of a let down with the payment of the prize Money, (also the Plaque)in fact it came Today (2 months overdue) after Many Emails and promises, it arrived as a cheque instead of the EFT as originally promised. I can hear you say 'get a life, get over it, rise above it' I should but this time it really got up my nose for some reason!

The story continues:)

In fact it will be the '173rd. Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society Show', (237th. If you take into account it was held Twice a year in early times!) The actual competition will be the '42nd National Exhibition of Photography'. After missing the Closing Date deadlines for the previous 2 years, I was looking through the list of Competitions in my Bookmarks and found I had two and a half weeks to the closing date.

I spent the next 8-9 days trying to sort out what to put in the 3 Categories I wanted to enter.

Large Colour Print, Open/Pictorial,
Large Monochrome/Colour Print, Landscape/Seascape sections.
Large Monochrome/Colour Nature Print,

They had to be printed, dried, mounted onto card and delivered to the Show grounds. I made it with one day to spare! Although, in the end I decided not to enter the Nature section, next year.

There were Three Judges, each scoring a possible maximum score of 5 points for a total of 15. The acceptance level was 12 points for both sections.

I must admit I was disappointed with two of my favourite prints not making the acceptance level, one scored quite low in fact:( Such is Life.

In the open, Large Colour Print section, 'Burra Storm 2' scored 12 points

Found in the 'Country Scenes' Portfolio.

In the Large Monochrome/Colour-Landscape/Seascape Print section, 'Ethel Beach Surf' scored 12 points,

Found in the 'Water-Salt or fresh' Portfolio.

'Elder Range' scored 13 points,

Found in the 'Flinders Ranges' Portfolio.

And finally, 'Morialta Falls' scored the full 15 points but only managed 3rd Place, oh well!. But I did get $35 for that, but the Really good news was, it gained the "Bowden Group prize ($100) and the S.A.P.F. (South Australian Photographic Federation) Plaque for the Top 'Colour Print that depicted the Australian Land/Seascape'. Nice one!!

Found in the 'Water-Salt or fresh' Portfolio.

All (most) acceptances and all Award winning entries can be seen on display in the South East corner of the Goyder Pavilion at the Show from the 2nd to the 15th of September.

If you get a chance have a look. They will be for sale, re-printed by me, (you can put your order in there, if you want) but it would be a lot easier and quicker to order from this site when you get Home:)!!

You can also vote for any of the above images for the "Peoples choice award" nudge nudge, wink wink:)

Many thanks to all the Sponsors, Judges, RA&HS of South Australia and also, Congratulations to all the successful Exhibitors as well,

until next Year,

John.

CAMERA EQUIPMENT FOR SALE-UPDATE
07th March 2012 - 0 comments
First of all, a Big thank you to those People of great taste and Distinction for buying all the Camera Gear I had on offer.

Three of them I know nothing of but the Person who acquired the Hasselbald XPan II - Marty, says he's enjoying using it. I will keep the news item here for the younger Photographers to have a look at some of the Film Gear that was used for many years..

I grew up on Film Cameras (from the 70's) and was very happy with them until PROGRESS/CHANGE reared it's Ugly/Necessary head and changed things for ever!!

I've been holding on these Cameras as long as I could, but now, I really have to pass them on to another Home!

I will NOT be handling the sale but have passed it on to Photographic Wholesalers at 47 Hutt Street in Adelaide, South Australia.
ALL items are on display in their Store.

Here is the link to the page where they are for sale HERE. They are at the Top of the 'Other' section.

They are split into 4 sections-

From the top Left, Bronica ETRS KIT with '4' Lenses-50/75/150/200mm & AE II Prism Finder (Metered), 2-120 Film Backs and Hand Grip/Winder and instruction booklet. It produces 15 lovely 6x4.5cm images/ roll. For Only $800.00 AUD-Great value. SOLD.

Top Right, Bronica ETRS KIT w/75mm Lens, Non metered eye level viewfinder & 2-120 Film Backs and Hand Grip/Winder. Another great bargain at $200.00 AUD SOLD.

Bottom Left, Fuji 690GSW III, Fixed Wide angle lens-65mm and only had 21 rolls of Film through. Boxed with instruction booklet. It produces stunning images on the Lightbox. A Steal at $850.00 AUD SOLD.

And now the Piece de Resistance, my Favourite Film Camera ever, the Hasselblad Xpan Mark II w/45mm & 90mm lenses. You can shoot Panoramic [24x60mm-approx] and/or standard size shots on the same Roll of Film at the flick of a switch. All Boxed, comes with centre filter for the 45mm lens and Two Lens Hoods, 2 sets of Batteries, instruction booklet and a few other extras. Daylight Robbery at $2800.00 AUD, SOLD.

Most lenses come with 81A and Polariser Filters attached.

The reason there have only been 21 Rolls of Film put through the Fuji 6x9cm Camera (there is a counter on the Base Plate) is, shortly after I bought it, I also bought the Hasselblad Kit and fell in love with it, I could walk around with it taking hand held shots just about any where with fantastic results.

I would appreciate it if you could settle for the price asked:) as the commission eats into my final payment, thanks,

John.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE COLLECTION.
29th March 2011 - 0 comments
I thought with the increase in hits over the last couple of weeks, around 1,000 I would treat you to some new images to drool over, so why not treat your self to one of them :) Just have a browse through the various Portfolios that you think might resemble the image?!?

John.

NEW IMAGES ADDED
08th January 2011 - 0 comments
Some weeks go slow then suddenly you have a Brain Storm and you add 10 images, this is one of those weeks!! You never can tell.
The first four can be found in 'TREES, FLOWERS AND PLANTS' and the last 6 in 'RIVERS, LAKES, WATERFALLS OR THE SEA' !!

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
12th December 2010 - 0 comments
I know that it says 'Landscape and Nature Photography' near the top of the Home page and that was my intention to stick to that original idea, but those of you who know me from my Camera Club days might remember that I always loved to create a lot of my images by adding two or more slides together and copy them with a slide copier and I did very well in Competitions and in Photography Magazines and sold a few as well!!

I had seen a few articles in Photography Magazines and on the internet about Fine Art Smoke Photography and was fascinated by some of the results they had achieved, so I finally got around to trying it myself.

Of course it is hit and miss and you really need a good imagination to see the faces I can but I have complete faith in you.

The photos nave been cleaned up because 'smoke gets in your eyes - (every where)' and it can make the back ground look messy and dirty. Also where I have seen Faces I have emphasised the eyes and some of the features. Several more have been added to the Portfolio as well.

John.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS
29th August 2010 - 0 comments
Gone are the days when all I had to do was gather a collection of Slides, sort them on the Light box, label them and post them off for the Picture Library to sort through and either put in a Catalogue or more recent, on their Web site.

These days you have to do every thing your self, well almost. This is where Photium comes to the Rescue to help Computer nerds like my self compete with all the Computer Savvy of you out there.

My first site -STOCKSHOTS4U (Not active for now)took me quite a while to get organised but the easier HTML on the site now, has allowed me to get a bit more creative!

Now it's time for the next step and offer you discerning image lovers a chance to place some of my work on the walls of Your Home. It still is a step by step process to get a workable collection on-line and ready to Print but I would rather get it right the first time.

For now have a look what is on offer in the galleries and keep watching this space for new additions.
If you have any questions or requests for specific Images - Keep it Clean Please, just contact me.

Best wishes,

John.
